The month of May has been cruel to the Islamic State (ISIL) forces, as the terror organization has suffered several defeats in both Iraq and Syria.
Perhaps the Islamic State’s biggest loss this month came at the hands of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the western countryside of the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
The Syrian Democratic Forces not only captured Tabaqa City this month, but also, the strategic Tabaqa Dam and its surrounding villages.

Syrian Arab Army (SAA) forces scored further gains in the Damascus region, gaining control of Al-Qaboun neighbourhood, east of Damascus, Saturday.
In their offensive, the SAA uncovered a vital tunnel that was being used as a main supply line for opposition forces, operating in the Damascus suburb.
Soldiers from the SAA’s 105th and 42nd Brigade of Republican Guard reportedly attacked positions held by anti-government forces, capturing strategically important chain of tunnels and trenches. Tunnels were used to transport ammunition, food, water, and armour to the fighters in southeast Qaboun.
Some 30 couples paraded through Aleppo garbed in white and military uniforms before making their vows on Friday, in what has been described as the city’s biggest wedding celebration in six years.
Wedding guests celebrated with dancing, music and by singing the national anthem. The ceremonies were reportedly supported by the Syrian government and a number of charities.
Security remained on high alert for the occasion.
